1. Who We Are

FuelWatch is operated by [FuelWatch — legal entity pending registration], based in Mombasa, Kenya. This policy explains what data we collect through our website, mobile app, and fleet hardware, why we collect it, and how it's protected.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

  • Account data — name, email address, phone number, password (encrypted), provided when you sign up.
  • Fleet & vehicle data — truck identifiers, models, driver names and phone numbers that you enter into the system.
  • Telemetry data — GPS location, speed, fuel level readings, and timestamps collected from hardware installed on your vehicles.
  • Billing data — payment method, transaction history, and subscription status. Card numbers are processed by our payment partners and are never stored on our servers.
  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, and device/browser information, collected automatically to improve the service.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use collected data to:

  • Operate the fleet monitoring dashboard and deliver real-time alerts (siphon, tamper, low fuel, fueling events)
  • Process payments and manage subscription renewals
  • Send SMS and push notifications you've enabled
  • Respond to support requests and demo bookings
  • Improve detection accuracy and platform reliability

4. Data Storage & Security

Account, fleet, and telemetry data is stored using Supabase, a managed database provider with encryption at rest and in transit. Access to your fleet data is restricted to your account and, where applicable, FuelWatch administrators for support purposes. We do not sell your data to third parties.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate FuelWatch, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and real-time data sync
  • Netlify — website and application hosting
  • Africa's Talking — SMS alert delivery
  • Payment processors (M-Pesa / Safaricom Daraja, card processor) — payment handling

6. Data Retention

Telemetry and alert history is retained for as long as your account remains active, plus a reasonable period after cancellation for billing and dispute resolution purposes. You may request deletion of your account data by contacting support, subject to any legal retention obligations.

7. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. Fleet administrators are responsible for ensuring driver data entered into the system (names, phone numbers) is collected with appropriate consent.

8. Children's Privacy

FuelWatch is a business-to-business fleet management tool not directed at or intended for use by children. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of FuelWatch after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
